Getting Traffic To A New Website Or A Blog

‘Just put a site on the net and wait for people to rush in.’  It’s a nice marketing trick some site building software or services vendors sell or hint to people. The problem is – this hardly transforms into a real life scenario.
There is a never ending supply of Internet entrepreneurs who keep thinking all they have to do is get a nice site with some content together, and – VOILA! They are flooded with readers and customers.
Getting Traffic
Guess what?  They’re in for a nasty surprise.
In the September 2010 NetCraft web sites survey report suggested that there are at least227,225,642 sites on the net. Think about that number – a little overwhelming, isn’t it? The Internet is not waiting with bated breath for your site.  However, that’s no reason to give up, just be prepared for a long battle.
Here are two basic rules of having a successful blog:
Rule #1: traffic is everything.
Rule #2: traffic is not guaranteed.
You have to work hard to get your traffic, and the work begins even before you have the site up and running.  So, how do you get it?
Do your keywords research diligently! You absolutely have to know what people are looking for in your specific niche. What keywords are the most popular? What keywords are used by pay-per-click advertisers and so bring buyers and not just browsers?
Follow the principles of SEO – Search Engine Optimization, and use an SEO friendly shopping cart or content management system.  People look for information and products to buy using search engines – you use Google to find stuff, right?  So if you’re nowhere to be seen on the search engines, you’ll never get traffic.  Make sure your site is optimized for your target keywords, and then get links to your site to help build your search engine ranking.
- Content, content, content – Both on-site and off.  You need good enticing titles together with helpful and involving posts on your blog.  Put content on other sites to get your name out there.  Google is designed to reward the best content.
- Social networking sites are great for short bursts of traffic. For long-term traffic, techniques like article marketing, commenting on popular blogs in your niche and participating in relevant forums are some ways of putting links to your main site out there.  The links which you’ll have voting for your site in the eyes of search engines will improve your ranking and search results positioning.
- Focus on the soft-sell, delivering your visitors useful and interesting content, rather than marketing and advertising.  Run your blog with viewpoint of helping people to make their lives better and efforts more productive.
- Always encourage your visitors to join your email list.  Email them any time there’s a new interesting post or relevant news around there. Make sure you send them to read the rest of the content on your blog, increasing the traffic and generating more action right on it.
- Use Google Analytics to know exactly what worked and where the traffic came from so you can improve on that and dump the dead methods. This free service would save your time and help you build a never stopping river of visitors.
Remember that getting traffic is not hard, it’s just hard work. You need to be persistent, have realistic expectations, and done well, your traffic will increase every month.

7 Tips For Making More Money Via AdSense

Your humble site on the Web isn’t just the podium from which you speak your piece or a social gathering place for people interested in the same topic as yourself. It’s one of the ways you make a living. AdSense is a well-known and widely used program offered by Google for converting site traffic into hard, cold cash that can pay bills or buy fun toys such as a new laptop. AdSense is “pay-per-click” (PPC), which means that only actual clicks count for something. Mere drive-by views count for nothing. Visitor interest in ads is all. The exact revenue will depend on the types of visitors and the ads; each click may put into your AdSense account as little as a few pennies or as much as ten or more dollars. However, a rough estimate from many kinds of sites and types of visitors is that the value of each click will average about $0.20.
Bundles of Currency

Build Heavy Traffic

The more traffic your site gets, the more visitors will click on the ads. This is a given, no matter what kind of visitors your site gets or what kind of ads appear on it. A site with interesting, regularly refreshed content is a site with more visitors. People like to read content from writers who know their subjects and who obviously enjoy writing about them. Write engaging posts yourself, or invite guest posters. Make it easy to read and navigate your site. These tactics and others will encourage visitors to return regularly and talk about your site to other people who may visit as well.

Intelligent Placement

An ad hiding out of sight is an ignored ad. Where do your visitors look the most frequently? Look at your own site pages. Which parts draw your eye the fastest? Put the ads there. A good place is often near the top and to the right of the main body of text. Research has shown that this area typically attracts the most attention. Banner ads splashed across the very tops of pages may or may not do well, because this sort of ad placement once was so overdone that many visitors are by now completely blind to them. Ads in other places can work reasonably well, depending on how attention flows to those locations from the content.

Color Contrast

The human eye is drawn to contrasts. An ad that has a different color from the rest of the page will stand out. Naturally, a bright green ad on an all-red page will be ugly rather than appealing, but many other color combinations work well. If you’re color-blind or have absolutely no sense of good fashion, ask a friend to check out your color choices. This is a good idea anyway. What looks great to you might not look so great to other people. Bright colors can work well, if it’s possible to use them without being obnoxious. The most effective ads are those that blend into the rest of the page visually even as they stand out, because visitors subconsciously feel that smoothly integrated ads are just another part of the regular content. It’s an art.

Links, Links Everywhere

Too many links on a page will give your visitors too many ways to flee with paying a tithe. Fewer or subtler links will focus more attention on the ads as the right way to escape into the wild blue yonder.

JavaScript, Please

JavaScript in a visitor’s browser must be enabled for AdSense to work at all. If JavaScript is disabled, so are any revenues from that visitor. It’s possible to write parts of a page to not appear without JavaScript being enabled, or to use a navigation system that uses JavaScript for its best functionality. These tactics may alienate a few visitors, but that’s a small risk to take for a large return. It all depends on how you feel about what some people call freeloaders. The least pushy method is simply to implement a small script that will allow a prominent message to be shown asking a visitor to enable JavaScript for best results, but which will conceal the message if JavaScript is already enabled.

Implement “Alternate Ads”

Sometimes the AdSense servers are puzzled as to what ad to place on one of your site’s pages. In this case, they will usually place a “Public Service Ad” (PSA) instead of a paying ad. To avoid this, use “google_alternate_ad_url” in your AdSense code:
google_alternate_ad_url = "/paying-advertisement.shtml";

Test Long and Hard

All good marketers know that little differences in design can make huge differences in response rates. Test your ads. Try one design for a week, then another design for another week. If you’re not sure, experiment wildly. Make careful notes of how particular placements, colors, sizes and whatnot affect visitor responses. These notes will pay off in the long run, even if it’s a drag to keep records.

Developing and Optimizing Your First Adsense Website

In the first part of this 2 part series on how to make money online with adsense I covered the initial research. If you haven’t read that post yet, I suggest you read it now as it will assist in helping you grasp the entire strategy as a whole.
Let’s jump right in and start developing our new adsense website:
Content Creation
Once you’ve purchased your domain and you’ve chosen a hosting package, you can then set-up your site using WordPress or any platform you are comfortable with. You should then write your content ensuring that it is completely unique and not scraped from other sites. Each article you write should be between 500-800+ words in length; try not to go under the 500 word mark (refer to the next point for directions on how to optimize each post).
When performing research for content creation I have found it is best to visit 3-4 authority sites that deal with my chosen niche. I then find content on those sites that are related to my keywords and I read through the content with a critical eye; I also take note of key-points while reading through the content.
I then step away from my PC and allow all the information that I have read to be absorbed into my mind (I keep each site where I have gathered information opened on a separate tab). After about 10 minutes I return to my PC and I begin writing an article from the information I gathered. I refer to the open tabs to crosscheck certain points to ensure complete accuracy. This technique allows me to churn out a high quality article within 40 minutes. Delivering quality through your content is integral as this will attract natural links to your site and repeat visitors; it will also cushion your site from any sort of Google slap if there is a manual review of your site.
Your first post should target your main keyword and you should also write one post for each related keyword you chose in the first step (remember the “related searches” we covered in part 1). So for example: if your main keyword is “make money online”, you will write a post targeting this keyword and if you had other related keywords like, “make money online fast”, “how to make money online”, “ways to make money online”, you will write one post targeting each keyword.
You can then publish your content on your site. Ensure you make your first post a static/sticky page on your home page. Of course this post should be the one that is targeting your main keyword. You can then publish all your other posts and schedule delivery 4-5 days apart or you could choose to write a new article every 4-5 days.
If you are using WordPress it will be advisable to publish each article as a page and not a post. Essentially you will be building a static site and utilizing WordPress as a Content Management System (CMS).
On-Page Optimization
To begin optimizing your pages you should insert your main keyword in your title tag, H1, and H2 tag; you can also include it in your H3 tag but it isn’t necessary. With regard to keyword density many so-called experts profess that a density of 3-5% is optimal but this sort of advice is outdated as search engines are more sophisticated in this day and age. Inserting your keyword once in the first sentence, 1-2 times within the body and once in the final paragraph is more than sufficient. You can also include an image within your post and insert your keyword as an alt attribute
Next, fill out your meta-description and include your main keyword in the description as well as in the meta-keywords. These rules apply to each individual page.
Off-Page Optimization
You can now begin your off-page optimization; this involves building backlinks to your site. This can become tedious but it is necessary to enable your site to climb the ranks. My advice is to start backlinking at a slow rate and increase the rate over time. You can build links from article directories, blog commenting, blog networks, bookmarking sites, web 2.0 sites like Squidoo and Hubpages (very important), and there are various other methods you can use.
Tip: In the past one-way links from article directories and web 2.0 properties carried considerable weight but now the “link juice” that is passed isn’t as venomous. To increase the power of your links you can build backlinks to your first-tier links. This backlinking technique is known as “link pyramids” and it is a powerful method that works wonders.
When building links it is important to use your keywords as anchor text, and you should also build links to your inner-pages with relevant anchor text. Working toward ranking all your pages in the search engine will help catapult your levels of income.
Ensure you diversify your backlink sources and remain consistent in your link building. As you build links, your site will move up the ranks, and if you carried out your research correctly you can rank in the top 3 within 2-3 months, sometimes less if there isn’t much competition.
Ad Placement
Once your site begins generating consistent traffic you should begin testing the placement of your ads so that you can extract the highest return as possible. Your adsense ad placement is critical and I have found that one ad block below your title performs the most optimal. But individual sites tend to perform differently with regard to Click-Through-Rate (CTR). Therefore it is important to test various ad positions until you find the most optimal placement. Configuring your ad units to display image and text ads can also have a positive affect on your overall click-trough-rate.
Optimal ad placing is all about testing, testing, and testing some more. When you engage in testing ad placements, the placements you choose should remain intact for a minimum period of one week. Do not change ad positions every day as this will not provide a fair reflection with regard to performance.
That brings us to the end of the second and final part of my guide on how to make money online with Adsense. I hope I was able to transfer my knowledge onto you and I truly hope you are motivated to begin applying this method. Ultimately my goal in sharing this knowledge was to help someone succeed in making money online.
This strategy has worked tremendously well for me, and I have no doubt that it will work for you if you do your research correctly and apply yourself. Earning with Adsense is probably one of the easiest routes to make money online and I do not say this lightly. I have tried many methods to make money via the internet and from my experience I can tell you without any hesitation that Adsense has proven to be the simplest method to earn an income online.

Finally, if you can recall from my first post I promised to provide you with a juicy tip to help you enter competitive markets with relative ease. Here is that tip:
Currently the US population extends beyond 300 million. This statistic coupled with US online buying behaviour makes this market the most lucrative in the world. Marketers are aware of this and as a result internet marketers across the globe march straight to the money and target the US market.
This trend has left considerable gaps in other emerging markets and I am constantly amazed by the opportunities I uncover in places like the UK, Australia, Philippines, and even countries in Africa have proven to offer high potential opportunities.
Sometimes it pays to go against the grain and I assure you that there are many gaps that are wide open waiting to be exploited by you. Now is the time to jump into these markets as these opportunities wouldn’t last forever.

7 Best Ad Publishing Networks For Bloggers To Earn More Money.

The best ad publishing network for bloggers and other google-adsense-logosite owners too. It is the best in the world of ad publishing. With high amount given to users who really work hard. Currently it is the leader in the world of Ad publishing. I am eagerly waiting for my first Adsense account approval which I believe will soon be approved. I have seen many videos of Adsense and with them I can surely say that it is the real leader in the world of ads publishing.
It is a good adsense alternative. I have not used but chitika-logohave seen many positive reviews about it and also have been recommended by many friends. It has many options in it but the ads are very geo targeted. This is the reason I don’t like using Chitika. I don’t recommend it to anyone, whose site visitors do not come from these countries in their geo targeted list. It consists of USA and Canada. If your users dont come from these countries, ads do not display or you can configure options to display an alternative ad or an back fill ad.
It is also a good service. It also pays more money. But most of adbrite-logothe times ads don’t appear on your site.It according to me has a less advertiser base. I do not recommended Adbrite for bloggers though. The ads are less in number, but when they display they are high paying ones mostly.
It is not that good service according to me. It does not bidvertiser-logogenerate much income. The ad click rates are very less and don’t earn you much. But its referral system is good. It is not  recommended by me with sites with low traffic and less keyword targeted posts.
If you have a well developed site Tribal Fusion is a very good tribal-fusion-logoalternative. It does not accept mostly small sites. It requires a certain umber of visitors and page views in order to be accepted for its publisher base. Once approved it will earn you a good amount.
Widget Bucks according to me is a good Adsense widgetbucks-logoalternative. But its ads are much geo targeted. There are only two options available presently i.e. normal ads and pop under ads. Normal ads ex. banner ads display only for visitors form USA and / or Canada and some very few other countries. It does not benefit when maximum visitors of your site do not come from these countries.
It is a good site. I don’t like it that much as compared to kontera-logoother ones  given above. It only has content link. Ads display when a keyword  in their advertiser database matches a keyword in a post or page in  your site. The keyword will be highlighted for which ads are available. It is not a banner or a text link ad like one we see in Google Adsense. The ad appears when a user hovers above the highlighted keyword. There are many options for this ads itself.
This list is still incomplete. If you have any other ad networks in your mind please tell me. Share your views here by commenting.
